John Olajide Reflects on Business Journey, Dallas Hall of Fame Induction

Nigerian-born entrepreneur and Founder and Chairman of Cavista Holdings Limited, John Olajide has reflected on his journey from Nigeria to the United States, his entrepreneurial beginnings and his commitment to using business as a force for good.

Olajide shared the reflections while revisiting a video produced following his 2024 induction into the Dallas Business Hall of Fame by Junior Achievement of Dallas, Inc., an honour he described as both humbling and significant.

In sharing the video, Olajide said he wanted people to gain a deeper understanding of who he is, what drives him and the values that have shaped his leadership journey.

“Business is a force for good and business done well creates value and transforms lives,” he said, stressing his belief that people have a collective responsibility to create meaningful impact.

Olajide, who was born and raised in Nigeria as one of five brothers, said his upbringing in a business-oriented family played an important role in shaping his entrepreneurial outlook. His parents were distributors for Unilever, and he recalled growing up around their business and witnessing firsthand the discipline, responsibility and commitment required to build a livelihood.

Despite having limited formal education, Olajide described his parents as among the smartest people he knows, noting that they placed a strong emphasis on education and wanted their children to have opportunities beyond what they had experienced.

He eventually moved to Dallas to pursue higher education and graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas. While in college, he was introduced to the healthcare-at-home industry at a time when technology and the internet were beginning to transform business operations.

That exposure ultimately contributed to the development of Access, a cloud-based technology platform designed to help healthcare-at-home organisations improve efficiency, streamline operations, grow their businesses and, most importantly, improve patient outcomes.

Olajide said his broader mission has always been to use his talents and abilities to serve as many people as possible.

“My purpose in life is to serve others,” he said, explaining that he seeks to leverage his talents, gifts and opportunities to make people’s lives more meaningful.

His commitment to developing people also extends to his approach to leadership. Olajide said leaders have a responsibility to create environments where employees can realise their full potential, adding that he wants the culture built at Access to remain influential long after his own tenure.

He also highlighted the importance of Junior Achievement’s work in helping young people see possibilities beyond their immediate circumstances.

According to him, exposure to opportunity can be transformative, particularly for young people who may not otherwise have access to examples of what they can achieve.

Olajide is the Founder and Chairman of Cavista Holdings Limited, a diversified holding and investment company with interests spanning technology, agriculture, hospitality, fintech, energy and other sectors.

Its portfolio includes Cavista Technologies Limited, a global technology services company with operations across North America, Asia and Africa; Agbeyewa Farms, an agro-allied business operating in Africa; Glocient Hospitality Limited, concessionaire of Ekiti State’s Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort; and PayZeep, an African fintech company.

Beyond his business interests, Olajide has taken on significant leadership responsibilities in both the United States and Africa. In 2024, he became Chair of the Board of the Corporate Council on Africa, a business association focused on promoting trade and investment between the United States and African countries.

In 2020, he served as the youngest-ever Chair of the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors and executive committee, where he helped lead the Dallas business community through the COVID-19 pandemic and supported efforts to attract businesses and investment to the region.

He also serves on the boards of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice, Presidential Precinct, the Dallas Regional Chamber and the Dallas Citizens Council.

For Olajide, however, his achievements are ultimately connected to a broader philosophy of service, leadership and impact.

Reflecting on his family, career and journey, he said he remains inspired to leverage everything he has access to in order to serve more people and contribute to more meaningful lives.

His story, from growing up in a Nigerian business family to building technology and investment businesses across continents and assuming leadership roles in major business institutions, underscores his belief that entrepreneurship can create value far beyond financial returns.
