One of her most ambitious projects yet is the Free Dental Outreach for 1,000 Lagos Residents, a large-scale initiative set to provide much-needed dental services to people who simply cannot afford them. “We live in a country where some people lose job opportunities just because they’re missing a tooth,” she explains. “That’s unacceptable. In fact, she sees her artistic expression as a vital part of her mission. “Art and healthcare both heal in different ways,” she says. “Whether I’m performing on stage or treating a patient in the clinic, I’m present, I’m giving my all, and I’m serving. That’s what matters.”
Asked how she manages to balance these roles, Dr. Cherry answers with characteristic calm. “It’s about being intentional with your time and energy. When I’m in the clinic, I give 120 percent. When I’m in the studio, I do the same. You don’t have to tear yourself apart to be whole, you just have to honour every part of who you are.”
