From Lagos to Toronto: Nigerian Corporate Travel Services, Treepz Launches Canadian Operations

Nigerian Corporate Travel Services, Treepz has launched its operations in Canada after securing the University of Toronto’s African Impact Initiative as its first North American client.

In his words, Mr. Akumah stated that, “We can truly build globally acceptable and reputable brands right from the streets of Lagos.”

Established in 2019 first as Plentywaka, the Corporate Travel Services rebranded in September 2021, and changed its name. Treepz currently operates a digital channel, ensuring passengers can hail daily rides along fixed routes. It likewise operates as an aggregator for bus travel companies across several Nigerian cities. Its digital platform assists transport operators to replace manual servicing and ticketing with digitalised offerings and services.

Since it started operations, Treepz has served no fewer than five million customers across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and Uganda. In addition, brands such as Google, SOSV, Techstars, BRK Capital and Shock Ventures have partnered with the company.

Two months ago, Disrupt Africa had reported that Treepz partnered with Nigeria’s first open university, Miva Open University. The partnership had the Travel Corporate Services becoming Miva’s official transportation provider. Treepz provided services for the University across Lagos, Abuja, Uyo, Jos, and Port Harcourt.

Following the official launch of Treepz Canada, the company is about to hit the bullseye in its global business expansion. With full backing from the Mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown and in collaboration with organisations such as the World Trade Centre’s TAP programme by Black Entrepreneurship Alliance, and the Brampton Entrepreneurs programme, the company is ready to make a Statement in Canada.

While giving an insight into the launch, Mr. Akumah stated:

“The launch of Treepz Canada is a strong positive statement of intent for not just our company but how we represent all African startups. We can truly build global acceptable and reputable brands right from the streets of Lagos and Treepz is just one more startup that proves this. We are proud Nigerians who have worked tirelessly to make this happen.”

Treepz also revealed that it has announced a two-year collaboration with the African Impact Initiative (AII), with support from the University of Toronto.

Following the partnership, Treepz will provide corporate travel solutions to AII. This will ease travelling to four selected African countries annually from Canada and other countries globally.
