The Word Works Wonders: Daystar Christian Centre Celebrates 30 Years of Empowering Lives

In a remarkable celebration of faith, purpose, and impact, Daystar Christian Centre marks its 30th anniversary this November, commemorating three decades of empowering individuals to discover, develop, release, and maximize their God-given potential. Founded on November 18, 1995, by Senior Pastor Sam Adeyemi and Pastor Nike Adeyemi, Daystar has grown from humble beginnings into a global ministry, transforming lives and shaping communities across Nigeria and beyond.

“For thirty years, we have remained committed to the vision God gave us: raising role models. Individuals empowered to live purpose-driven lives, equipped spiritually, emotionally, and mentally to make a difference in every sphere of society,” said Pastor Sam Adeyemi. “This message has to go all over the world. That is what Jesus said: go into all the world and make disciples of all nations.”

From a modest fourth-floor hall at Eko Chinese Restaurant on Allen Avenue to a thriving center at Plot A3C, Ikosi Road, Oregun Ikeja, Daystar Christian Centre has continually demonstrated resilience, faith, and innovation. The church’s early days were marked by challenges, including limited resources and a constantly growing congregation. Pastor Sam recalled, “Even when the manager threatened to shut down the generator during service, we persevered and ensured the offerings were counted and given immediately. Those early trials shaped our commitment and faith.”

Pastor Nike Adeyemi reflected on the transformative journey of the ministry: “The story of Daystar is the story of grace, grace that transforms ordinary people into extraordinary testimonies. For thirty years, we have witnessed how love and consistent teaching can heal, restore, and awaken purpose. Our focus has always been to build people from the inside out. When you build people, God builds everything else.”

Over the years, Daystar has expanded its reach beyond traditional worship gatherings. The ministry has impacted lives through youth development programs, women’s empowerment initiatives, community health drives, educational support, and interventions for vulnerable children. Pastor Sam noted, “We helped about 120 girls reintegrate into society through mentorship, skills training, and faith-based support. Transformation is not just a word for us. It is the measure of our mission in action.”

Youth engagement remains at the heart of Daystar’s mission. The Star Hub, a youth-led service, ensures that the next generation of leaders is nurtured, equipped, and empowered. “I was appointed a youth pastor at 22. Young people today have unprecedented access to knowledge and resources. Our focus for the next 30 years is on youth, purpose, and global impact,” Pastor Sam emphasized.

Digital platforms have also amplified the church’s global presence. He added, “Success Power is returning to radio and TV in parts of the country, and our online platforms allow us to reach audiences worldwide in English and local languages. The message of hope, purpose, and empowerment must reach every corner of the globe.”

Pastor Nike highlighted the role of community and compassion in the ministry’s growth: “Every life touched is a chapter in our mosaic of changed lives. Every volunteer, partner, and member contributes to this living testament of God’s work. Faith is not just what we believe; it is how we uplift those around us.”

The 30th anniversary, themed A Mosaic of Changed Lives, is a celebration of three decades of stories that demonstrate the transformative power of God’s word. The celebration service, themed The Word Works Wonders, will be held on November 15 and 16 across all Daystar centers and streamed online via the Daystar YouTube channel for a global audience.

“Thirty is the age of purpose. Expect our role models to make major impacts globally,” Pastor Sam declared. Pastor Nike added, “Every story, every life, every act of compassion reflects God’s work and inspires the next generation of leaders.”
