Entrepreneurs Urged to Build Globally Competitive Businesses to Support Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Economy

Entrepreneurs and CEOs have been urged to build sustainable, globally competitive businesses that align with the Federal Government’s bold vision of a $1 trillion Nigerian economy by 2030. The call was made at the recently concluded LIMBSimple Strategy Growth Convention 2025, a landmark two-day gathering in Lagos that brought together some of Africa’s most influential business leaders, innovators, and policymakers.

Convener Ezekiel Solesi set the tone with a defining question: “How does a business reach its first ₦1 trillion, and how can Africa create a system that consistently elevates entrepreneurs toward sustainable growth and global relevance?” He challenged participants to step out of their comfort zones, network strategically, and rethink conventional approaches to leadership and enterprise development. “You might be sitting next to the answer to a prayer you’ve been waiting for years,” Solesi told attendees, underscoring the transformative power of collaboration and strategic networking.

The convention featured a robust lineup of business leaders who shared practical, actionable insights. Dr. Niyi Adesanya, CEO of FifthGear, emphasized that revenue alone does not guarantee sustainability, highlighting the importance of operational discipline, leadership pipelines, and risk management in building resilient organizations. Ini Abimbola, Founder of ThistlePraxis, reinforced this perspective, stressing that growth demands evolving leadership and warning against micromanagement. “Founders who remain entangled in daily operational tasks stifle growth,” she noted, urging entrepreneurs to focus on strategic decision-making and empower their teams.

Financial strategy also took center stage. Dr. Adaeze Udensi, Founder of Orbit Financial Services, advised entrepreneurs to align external funding with their business structure and long-term objectives, cautioning that misaligned financing can strain operations and hinder growth. Dr. Onuha Nnachi, Group Managing Director of TTL Group, illustrated the power of persuasion in leadership, recounting how bold negotiation and confident communication helped unlock $50 million in equity during Nigeria’s power privatization era—demonstrating how conviction and clarity can reshape business outcomes.

Ugochukwu Omeogu, CEO of Merignos Consult, challenged participants to clearly distinguish between business and wealth, urging them to pursue transformational impact rather than purely transactional gains. Meanwhile, Dr. Moji Davids, Group Managing Director of Xtralarge Farms and Resorts, shared her journey from a struggling startup to a thriving agribusiness and hospitality enterprise, emphasizing courage, reinvention, resilience, and consistent follow-up as pillars of long-term entrepreneurial relevance.

The convention concluded with a compelling call to action from Kola Adesina, CEO of Sahara Power Group, who stressed the importance of integrity, disciplined financial governance, and continuous innovation. “The moment you mix personal money with business money, your countdown begins,” Adesina warned, reminding entrepreneurs that ethical leadership is fundamental to building enterprises capable of driving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economic ambition.
