Origin Automobile Works Board Approves New Growth Priorities at Strategic Retreat

The Board of Directors of Origin Automobile Works (OAW) has concluded a three-day strategic retreat held at Lakowe Lakes Golf and Country Estate Resort, Lagos, marking a significant step in positioning the organisation for its next phase of growth. The retreat, themed “Building Institutional Strength to Accelerate Growth,” focused on reinforcing governance structures, reviewing organisational impact, and defining strategic priorities for the future.

The session provided a dedicated forum for board members to step away from routine deliberations and engage deeply with long-term sustainability, enterprise risk management, and operational effectiveness. Working closely with executive management, the Board reviewed performance over the last financial year against the backdrop of the OAW 5-Year Strategic Plan (2020–2025) and began shaping the framework for a new strategic plan covering 2026–2030.

In response to the evolving demands of Nigeria’s agricultural and food systems sector, the Board examined ways to strengthen OAW’s institutional capacity while expanding its contribution to agricultural mechanisation and sustainable development. Discussions centred on refining the organisation’s mission, values, and strategic focus, culminating in a clear, actionable roadmap aimed at deepening impact across the agricultural and food systems value chain and ensuring long-term viability.

Describing the retreat as a defining moment, Executive Chairman of Origin Tech Group, Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel said the discussions reinforced the Board’s commitment to driving productivity and innovation within the agro-mechanisation ecosystem. He noted that the retreat aligned board responsibilities with the organisation’s current and future needs, while also sharpening focus on the rollout of new technologies and growth initiatives designed to support OAW’s customers and partners.

Key outcomes from the retreat included the approval of a growth-oriented strategic direction for Nigeria’s agricultural and food systems sector, stronger collaboration between the Board and executive leadership, and the initiation of new capital investment and funding campaigns to support expansion objectives.
