Tosin D. Akinwunmi has been elected Chairman-Elect of the ICAN Surulere & District Society, a district of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
The district announced that Akinwunmi, a Fellow of ICAN (FCA), will serve as the next chairman of the society. His election reflects his longstanding commitment to the accounting profession and his contributions to the growth and development of the district society.
Tosin is a highly accomplished and versatile accounting professional with over 19 years of comprehensive experience across key pillars of finance and governance, including financial reporting, internal and external audit, taxation, internal control, and risk management.
As a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), he brings a blend of technical expertise, strategic insight, and leadership capability to his professional engagements. His professional approach is defined by strong analytical skills, innovative thinking, performance-driven strategies, and a results-oriented mindset.

Academically, Akinwunmi has distinguished himself with outstanding achievements. He holds a First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Babcock University. Earlier in his academic journey, he graduated with distinctions at both the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels in Accountancy from Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State, where he was recognized as the Best Graduating Student in his class.
His professional career reflects steady growth and diverse experience across professional practice, banking, media, and corporate organizations. He began his career in professional accounting practice, rising to become Audit Manager at Ola Ajala & Co. (Chartered Accountants) and later Tax Manager at A. A. Dina & Co. (Chartered Accountants).
Akinwunmi also built extensive experience in the financial services sector. At Fidelity Bank Plc, he served as Internal Control Team Lead and later oversaw the Risk Management Unit for the Southwest Region. During this period, he also managed the bank’s Customer Complaints Unit, reporting directly to management on excess charges and customer-related financial issues. He further strengthened his banking experience while working within the Internal Audit Department of United Bank for Africa.

Transitioning into corporate leadership, he served as Finance Manager at Channels Television and later as Head of Finance and Administration at SWAgCo Limited. He also returned briefly to professional practice as an Associate Partner at Adeniji Agboola & Co. (Chartered Accountants).
His leadership trajectory eventually led to his appointment as Chief Finance Officer at FETS Limited, where he continues to contribute to strategic financial management and organizational growth.
Members of the ICAN Surulere and District Society have congratulated Akinwunmi on his election, expressing confidence that his experience, professional excellence, and leadership will further strengthen the district and advance the accounting profession.
