“Home Is Where Impact Happens,” Says Moji Davids at London Diaspora Dialogue

At an intergenerational dialogue with Nigerians in the diaspora held in London during the recently concluded state visit of Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Group Managing Director of Xtralarge Farms & Resorts, Dr. Moji Davids delivered a powerful call for Nigerians abroad to return home and actively contribute to national development.

Speaking to a room filled with professionals, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders, Davids shared her personal journey from the diaspora back to Nigeria, where she has spent nearly two decades building a thriving agribusiness.

“I am a farmer. I am an agripreneur in Nigeria, and I say that proudly anywhere I go in the world,” she declared, framing her message with both conviction and lived experience.

Davids explained that her return to Nigeria 18 years ago was driven by a desire to create meaningful impact. Today, Xtralarge Farms & Resorts stands as one of the country’s premier luxury farm resorts, blending agriculture with tourism while promoting agritourism on a global scale.

“There is opportunity,” she told the audience. “Growth often exists where there is challenge, and opportunity thrives where solutions are needed.”

Acknowledging the fears and uncertainties that often accompany a decision to return home, Davids urged Nigerians abroad to see beyond the obstacles and recognize the immense potential within Nigeria and across Africa.

“We cannot sit back and criticize what is not working. We must be willing to go back and become part of the solution,” she emphasized.

Reflecting on her early business days, Davids recounted the difficulties of securing farmland and navigating an unpredictable environment. Today, her company manages thousands of acres, creating a destination that supports both agriculture and tourism. Beyond business growth, she highlighted the broader societal impact: Xtralarge Farms & Resorts currently provides employment for nearly 1,000 people across its value chain, from farmers to logistics providers, forming a complete agricultural ecosystem.

A significant part of her address focused on food safety, which she described as vital for both public health and economic sustainability. Her team’s research revealed deep systemic challenges in the agricultural sector, including unsafe food production practices and misuse of harmful chemicals.

“These are the gaps that demand solutions,” she said, stressing the importance of building businesses that address real-world problems.

Davids’ central message was clear: impact comes from action, not observation.

“If we want to make a difference, we cannot stay abroad and only talk. We must go back, identify the problems, and build solutions that create real value,” she stated.

She concluded with a stirring call to resilience and purpose, urging attendees to embrace challenges as opportunities for meaningful impact.

“Home is where the problems are, and that is where the greatest impact can be made. The more problems you solve, the more value you create, and the more success you achieve.”

Her remarks resonated deeply with the audience, reinforcing the dialogue’s broader goal of strengthening diaspora engagement and mobilizing global Nigerian talent toward national development.
