Mastercard has partnered with Trip.com and Network International to showcase how artificial intelligence could transform travel bookings through agentic commerce.

The collaboration combines Trip.com’s AI-powered travel agent, TripGenie, with Mastercard’s Agent Suite for Merchants and Network International’s acquiring capabilities to enable consumers to search, compare, book and complete travel purchases through AI-assisted experiences.

The initiative is designed to demonstrate an end-to-end travel booking journey in which AI agents can support consumers from discovery and planning through payment, while merchants retain control over their brand experience and customer interactions.

As consumers increasingly turn to AI assistants to discover products, compare options and make purchasing decisions, Mastercard said its Agent Suite for Merchants enables businesses to integrate agent-powered shopping experiences into existing e-commerce environments.

The partnership brings together Trip.com’s travel ecosystem, Network International’s payment infrastructure and Mastercard’s global payments network and agentic commerce technologies to develop new AI-powered travel experiences.

“As agentic AI drives a fundamental shift in how consumers shop, Mastercard is committed to providing merchants with a way to build, connect and scale AI-powered shopping experiences,” said Mete Güney, executive vice president, Market Development, EEMEA, Mastercard.

Trip.com CEO Schubert Lou said AI is moving travel beyond traditional search toward more personalised and connected experiences, with the partnership exploring how authorised AI agents can facilitate travel-related transactions.

The solution is initially being showcased at the Arabian Travel Market, with applications expected to include selected travel services such as attractions and ancillary offerings. The partners plan a phased rollout, with commercial launch expected in early 2027.

Network International said the initiative could provide a framework for merchants, payment service providers and financial institutions across the region to adopt agent-driven commerce.

“At Network International, we believe agentic commerce will fundamentally reshape how consumers interact with digital services,” said Martin Pitcock, Head of E-Commerce and Omni-channel, Network International.

Mastercard said Agent Suite for Merchants is available through its Merchant Cloud platform, which provides businesses with access to payment and commerce capabilities including fraud protection, authentication, tokenisation, data and partner services.
