MTN, Nigeria’s telecommunications giant has launched Dabengwa Data Centre, West Africa’s largest modular facility. This initiative marks a significant advancement in Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.
The official unveiling of the Dabengwa Data Centre and Cloud Self-Service Platform is a major step forward in accelerating Nigeria’s digital economy. The state-of-the-art facility is recognised as the largest prefabricated modular data centre in West Africa.

The launch represents a crucial milestone in the country’s quest for digital sovereignty and enhanced infrastructure. The data centre sets a new standard for technological progress, scalability, and cloud service accessibility in the region.
The event was attended by several high-ranking dignitaries, including Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy. Dr. Tijani’s presence highlighted the federal government’s ongoing commitment to fostering private sector innovation as a key component of its Digital Nigeria strategy.
During the event, MTN expressed its gratitude to the Honourable Minister for his visionary leadership and for recognising the company’s efforts in expanding Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.
The ceremony also welcomed Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, CON, and the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin. Their consistent support in creating a conducive environment for technology-driven growth in the state was acknowledged and praised.

“From inception, this project was designed to embody our commitment to empowering Nigerian businesses with secure, locally managed, and globally competitive cloud solutions. It is not just a facility, it symbolizes our belief in Nigeria’s digital future.” A Statement by MTN revealed.
With over 95% of its leadership composed of Nigerians, including 45% women, MTN Nigeria continues to lead the industry in local talent development. The data centre was built by a team consisting of 99% Nigerian professionals, reinforcing a strong message of capacity-building and inclusion within the tech ecosystem.
The launch is part of MTN’s ongoing strategic infrastructure investments aimed at improving efficiency, reliability, and data sovereignty for Nigerian enterprises. With this new platform, businesses will have seamless access to scalable cloud services without needing to rely on offshore solutions.
MTN also acknowledged regulators, partners, and consultants for their crucial contributions to ensuring compliance, quality, and delivery. Additionally, the dedication of its internal teams, referred to as “MTNers,” was credited for making the project a success.
