First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has strengthened its reputation as a leading supporter of youth-led social impact in Nigeria. The bank received the prestigious Changemaker Collaboration Award at the 25th Anniversary Gala and Awards of Enactus Nigeria, held in late 2025 at the Civic Centre in Lagos. This recognition reflects a decade-long partnership that has positively impacted thousands of students across more than 30 tertiary institutions nationwide.

Enactus Nigeria, formerly known as Students in Free Enterprise, is a global non-profit that gives university students a platform to apply business concepts to real-world community challenges. The 2025 anniversary, themed “Celebrating 25 Years of Excellence, Growth, and Impact,” brought together alumni, business leaders, and hundreds of young innovators. During the gala, Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University (JOSTUM) in Makurdi was named the 2025 National Champion for its ECORESIN project, which transforms agricultural waste into biodegradable packaging.
FCMB’s approach to social impact goes beyond sponsorship. Led by Omoniyi Iyanda, the bank’s CSR and Sustainability strategy actively supports project development through the Enactus Challenge. The bank focuses on areas such as clean energy, agribusiness, financial literacy, and gender equality. Through mentorship, training, and seed grants, FCMB equips student teams with the resources they need to develop sustainable solutions and reach dozens of communities.

As 2026 begins, FCMB has reaffirmed its commitment to the Enactus movement. The bank is using its Training Academy and digital platforms to provide alumni with advanced business and management skills. By treating students as catalysts for change, FCMB aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical, market-driven solutions that address Nigeria’s economic challenges.
Michael Ajayi, Country Manager of Enactus Nigeria, praised the bank’s involvement. “FCMB’s commitment has gone beyond sponsorship; it is a true collaboration. They have shown what it means to be a changemaker, not just in word, but in action,” he said.
Through this partnership, FCMB continues to empower the next generation of innovators and social entrepreneurs. The bank’s work demonstrates the potential of youth-led initiatives to drive meaningful and sustainable development across Nigeria.
