Leadership Transition at Energia as Bashorun Takes Over as CEO

Energia Limited has announced the appointment of Oladimeji Bashorun as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership transition following the departure of former CEO Mr. Chidi Egonu.

The appointment elevates Bashorun from his previous role as Chief Operating Officer, where he played a central role in strengthening operational performance, improving efficiency, and supporting the company’s long-term strategic direction. His promotion reflects both continuity and confidence in a leadership style already deeply embedded in the organisation’s operational fabric.

A seasoned professional in the oil and gas sector with more than two decades of experience, Bashorun brings extensive industry knowledge shaped by senior technical and leadership roles at Shell Petroleum Development Company and later at Sahara Upstream. Across these roles, he contributed to asset management, operational stability, and performance optimisation across complex energy systems.

At Energia, his tenure as COO positioned him at the centre of day-to-day operations, where he was instrumental in driving efficiency improvements and reinforcing the company’s broader growth agenda.

Announcing the appointment, Chairman of Energia, George Osahon, praised Bashorun’s track record and leadership capacity, describing him as a steady and results-driven executive with deep industry expertise.

“Oladimeji Bashorun has demonstrated exceptional leadership and deep industry expertise during his time as Chief Operating Officer,” Osahon said. “His commitment to operational excellence and strategic growth has been instrumental to Energia’s progress. The Board is confident that under his leadership as Chief Executive Officer, the company will continue to strengthen its position as a key player in the industry while delivering sustained value to its stakeholders.”

In his acceptance remarks, Bashorun expressed gratitude for the appointment and reaffirmed his commitment to Energia’s long-term vision.

“I am honoured to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer of Energia,” he said. “Working closely with a talented team that drives the company’s success, I look forward to building on our achievements and advancing Energia’s commitment to operational excellence, responsible energy development, and value creation for our stakeholders.”

Under his leadership, Energia is expected to intensify focus on operational performance, strategic expansion opportunities, and its contribution to Nigeria’s broader energy security agenda. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship, safety standards, and community development as core pillars of its growth strategy.

Energia Limited is an independent oil and gas company focused on responsible energy development, sustainability, and stakeholder value creation. With a strong emphasis on safety, operational excellence, and long-term impact, the company continues to position itself as a key contributor to Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape.
