Agriculture, Not Salary, Is Future of Wealth Creation — Xtralarge CEO

In a bold call to reimagine Nigeria’s economic future, renowned agripreneur and sustainable agriculture advocate, Dr. Moji Davids, is leading a national conversation on wealth creation through agribusiness, unveiling what she describes as the Agri-Wealth Revolution, a movement aimed at shifting Nigerians from dependence on salaries to long-term, generational wealth.

Dr. Davids, the Group Managing Director and Co-founder of Extra Large Farms and Resorts, made the case during a recent media engagement ahead of the upcoming Agri-Wealth Revolution Summit scheduled for May 1st. The initiative is designed to unlock the untapped financial potential within Nigeria’s agricultural value chain and reposition everyday workers as active participants in wealth creation.

According to Dr. Davids, the revolution is not merely about farming, but about transforming perceptions of agriculture from a subsistence activity to a structured, multi-billion-naira ecosystem spanning production, logistics, processing, distribution, exports, and agritourism.

“The Agri-Wealth Revolution is about awakening people to the opportunities embedded in agribusiness. Most Nigerians still think agriculture is about traditional farming, but the real wealth lies in the entire value chain,” she said.

She emphasized that with a population of over 200 million people, Nigeria presents one of the largest food consumption markets in Africa, creating daily demand that cuts across every socioeconomic class.

Dr. Davids noted that while salaries provide income stability, they rarely translate into lasting wealth. Instead, she encouraged Nigerians to focus on converting income into productive assets within the agricultural sector.

“Anything you wake up daily to do for money is income. But wealth is what you build from that income. Agriculture gives you both, income today and assets for tomorrow,” she explained.

She added that agribusiness offers opportunities even for those without farmland, stressing that knowledge, mentorship, and strategic positioning within the value chain are more important than land ownership.

Highlighting her organization’s track record, Dr. Davids revealed that Extra Large Farms has, over the past decade, built a community of nearly one million people across various agribusiness segments and directly empowered over 200,000 registered participants.

The company has also developed what she described as Nigeria’s largest luxury farm resort and pioneered agritourism innovations that merge agriculture with hospitality and lifestyle experiences.

“We are not speaking theory. We are speaking from experience, failures, lessons, and success. We’ve built what we are teaching,” she said.

The upcoming summit will serve as both a training and empowerment platform, offering practical insights into export opportunities, logistics systems, distribution networks, and value addition strategies within agriculture.

The event is expected to attract young professionals, entrepreneurs, and workers seeking alternative income streams and long-term financial security.

In a bid to ensure inclusivity, Dr. Davids announced that 250 participants will be fully sponsored to attend, encouraging interested individuals to register by sending “May 1” to the designated contact line.

Dr. Davids concluded with a strong message to Nigerians across all economic levels, saying, “Whether you are earning a salary, running a business, or starting from zero, there is a place for you in agribusiness. The key is to start learning and start now.”

As Nigeria continues to grapple with rising living costs and economic uncertainty, initiatives like the Agri-Wealth Revolution are positioning agriculture not just as a survival sector but as a powerful engine for national wealth transformation.
