Chamsmobile has appointed seasoned banking and technology executive, Dr. Tolu Aofolaju, as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, bringing more than two decades of experience in financial services, digital banking, risk management and technology-led transformation to the leadership of the fast-evolving mobile money company.
The appointment marks a significant leadership transition for Chamsmobile as the company moves to deepen its position in Nigeria’s digital financial services ecosystem and scale its operations beyond mobile money into a broader financial infrastructure platform.
Aofolaju is an accomplished business leader and former banking executive with more than 20 years of experience spanning commercial, retail and digital banking, financial technology, risk management and enterprise-wide transformation.
Throughout her career, she has led cross-functional teams, managed complex operational and risk functions, optimised credit systems and implemented technology-driven solutions designed to improve efficiency and access to financial services.

Before joining Chamsmobile, Aofolaju worked extensively as a business adviser and change consultant, where she designed and implemented innovative digital technology solutions for organisations across sectors including manufacturing, education, healthcare, oil and gas and telecommunications.
Her professional track record includes scaling operations, deploying enterprise-wide digital solutions and building strategic partnerships to deliver technology-enabled business transformation.
In her new capacity as Chief Executive Officer, Aofolaju will lead Chamsmobile’s strategic scale-up from a licensed Mobile Money Operator into a high-volume financial infrastructure platform, with ambitions to significantly expand its transaction capabilities and reach across Nigeria.
Her leadership is expected to combine extensive experience in traditional banking with a strong understanding of fintech, digital strategy and technology transformation as Chamsmobile continues to develop its payment and financial technology services.
The company is also looking to strengthen the accessibility, security and user experience of its digital products, including Kegow, as it expands its services for individuals and businesses across the country.
Aofolaju’s professional experience is supported by an extensive academic and executive education background. She is an alumna of Lagos Business School and holds advanced business qualifications specialising in Fintech and IT management from the United Kingdom. She has also undertaken executive education in digital strategy at the University of Oxford.
She is a Fellow and Associate of several professional institutions in banking and credit administration, both in Nigeria and internationally.
Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Aofolaju has contributed to governance and women’s empowerment initiatives. She serves as a Board Member of Women Reform Organization, providing governance and oversight while supporting initiatives focused on financial stewardship, organisational effectiveness and women’s empowerment.

Her contributions to the organisation have included supporting fundraising activities, webinars, conferences and training programmes designed to create opportunities for less privileged women.
With experience spanning banking, fintech, technology, risk management and financial inclusion, Aofolaju assumes the leadership of Chamsmobile at a period of rapid evolution in Nigeria’s digital payments and financial services landscape.
Her appointment positions the company to draw on her extensive experience as it seeks to scale its operations, deepen its technology capabilities and expand access to digital financial services across Nigeria.
