Tizel Global, a Nigerian technology and cybersecurity company, has been honoured with the Government Cybersecurity Solutions Award at the Nigeria eGovernment Excellence Awards 2026, recognising the company’s contribution to advancing secure and technology-driven digital governance in Nigeria.
The award was presented at the Nigeria eGovernment Summit 2026, held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. The summit, themed “Mainstreaming Technologies in Nigeria Election Management,” brought together government stakeholders, technology experts, industry leaders and other key players to examine how technology can strengthen Nigeria’s digital governance and election management ecosystem.
Beyond the award recognition, Tizel Global made a substantive contribution to the summit through a paper presentation by its Chief Executive Officer, Happiness Obioha, titled “Mainstreaming Technologies in Nigeria Election Management: A Cybersecurity and Digital Resilience Blueprint for Modern Elections.”
In the presentation, Happiness examined the role of cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, resilient technology and operational preparedness in building secure and trusted election systems. She emphasised that modern election security requires more than the deployment of individual technologies, calling for an integrated approach that brings together people, processes and technology across the election management ecosystem.
The presentation highlighted key areas including secure biometric voter authentication systems, electronic polling and results management, cybersecurity operations, data protection, identity and access management, network security, business continuity and real-time security monitoring. It also examined the importance of resilient connectivity, including multi-network connectivity, fibre and 5G/6G capabilities and satellite backup, particularly for maintaining continuity in critical election operations.
Happiness further presented a phased approach to securing elections, built around assessment and planning, system and technology deployment, monitoring and optimisation, continuous innovation, and sustainable election infrastructure. The blueprint also drew attention to the need for stronger cybersecurity architecture covering applications, data, networks, infrastructure and people, alongside continuous monitoring and rapid incident response.
According to Happiness, the increasing reliance on digital systems in election management makes cybersecurity and resilience fundamental to public trust.
“As elections become increasingly technology-driven, cybersecurity can no longer be treated as an isolated technical function. It must be embedded across the entire election ecosystem, from people and processes to infrastructure, data and technology. Building resilient systems is essential to protecting the integrity, availability and trust that modern elections require.”
The paper also drew lessons from international election technology experiences, including the security measures adopted during the 2024 United States elections, while highlighting the need to develop solutions that reflect Nigeria’s unique technological, infrastructural and operational realities.
